Hi there! Welcome to the blog, a journal of my photography, family, and adventures. Stay a while and say hello!

Hi, friend! I’m so glad you’re here. (I’m the one in the middle! Those are my boys, Ben and Jack.)

Since this is my first post, I figured I’d share a little bit about myself and we can get to know each other.

I grew up in Northern California. If you’ve seen The Parent Trap with Lindsey Lohan (and if you haven’t, you should go watch it), then you know the Napa Valley that I’m talking about. Rolling vineyards, winding roads, golden sunshine. It was the perfect place to grow up.

After high school, I moved to Utah to attend Brigham Young University. I loved my time at BYU. I dabbled in about 18 different majors, and while I may be exaggerating a little bit, I think that’s the real number. I finally settled on English and loved every single one of my classes. College was so great. My roommates became my best friends, I studied abroad in Paris, worked in the Special Collections of the university library where I could touch old books and look at amazing artifacts, and met my husband.

While in college, I made the decision to be a missionary for my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I took a break from my classes and lived in Thailand for a year and a half and served as much as I could. I loved talking to people about Jesus – and I still do! Being a disciple of Christ is one of the greatest privileges of my life.

When I was a junior in college (after my time as a missionary) I met my husband, Ben. He was goofy, personable, and everyone loved him. And I had no idea he was interested in me. Even after he asked me on our first date, I was still completely in the dark! I loved our friendship and always looked forward to seeing him. But after some pretty divinely orchestrated events (that I just might blog about someday), we chose to love each other for the rest of our lives and beyond. Gosh, I love my good man.

After our time in Utah, we moved to Blacksburg, Virginia! Ben is working on his PhD in electrical engineering and I am mama to our perfect little boy, Jack. We love being his parents and watching him grow. You’ll see quite a bit of him around here!

As I look back on my life, photography has always been a constant. I can remember taking disposable cameras with me to elementary school and taking photos on the playground with my friends. I remember my first point-and-shoot camera swinging from the handle bars of my bike as I searched for the new places to photograph around town. I have documented every major and minor life event since getting an iPhone when I graduated high school. I have thousands of photos from time spent abroad…and if it’s possible, I have even more of my son!

After Jack was born, I decided to concentrate on growing as a photographer because I believe that photography is a beautiful form of storytelling. It captures my memories the way I actually remember them. If you’ll let me, I can do the same for you. Your memories deserve to be beautifully preserved. Your life and your people and your memories are so important, and photographs will help you to keep these moments with you forever. I look forward to getting to know you all!
