Ella is an incredible artist. She comes from a family of creatives – an author mother and an English professor father. I love the way she sees the world and how she captures her observations in paint.

For her portrait session, I wanted to make sure I got photos of her painting. We decided to go to a small lavender field in Riner where she sat down in the middle of the flowers with her eyes wide open, ready to paint the scene in front of her. It was fascinating to watch through my lens. Her attention to detail is incredible!

I also loved our conversation. Ella was so easy to talk with. We hardly ran out of things to say! As we talked, she told me about her post-high school aspirations and about her family and friends and all the good things in her life. I got her to laugh by having her tell me her most awkward moments and embarrassing stories about her dad. 🙂 Works every time!

It was so fun to remember that period of my life, too. The whole world is before her, endless possibilities that are equal parts daunting and thrilling. I hope she can look back on these photos and remember the incredible future she has. Congratulations, Ella. Happy senior year 🙂
