I think I’ve discovered the best way to blog. I need chocolate milk in one hand and a British murder mystery playing in the background. It’s an old college trick that I used a lot to get my creative juices flowing back in the day. 🙂 But back to the real reason we’re here.
Photographing families is my jam. It makes me so happy to capture people loving each other and playing together. The Rick family was no different! When Stephanie reached out to me, she was nervous because they’d never really had family photos taken before. She wanted to make sure she and her husband, Michael, captured their family while their son John is still small. They are loving this season of their lives here in Blacksburg and knew that photos would help them to always cherish it.
One of my favorite things to do during family sessions is asking mom and dad to just play with their kids. The interactions are so genuine and their joy radiates through my camera lens right into my heart and I just love it so much. I love the sometimes-out-of-focus all-in-motion kind of happiness that results.
Stephanie and Michael recently moved their family from Tennessee to Blacksburg. Michael’s job opportunities have really opened up here, and they have loved living near some of his family. Stephanie loves being a mom to their boy and she is doing a wonderful job. She’s also a dog-mom to three big dogs! John is now 2 years old and has been playing with his cousins non-stop! He loves all things trucks, trailers, and cars. He loves his Red Flyer wagon. And he loved to push the shutter button on my camera! 🙂
It was so much fun capturing the Rick family in Blacksburg. Enjoy a few pictures of their sweet family session!
