One of my favorite indoor locations for family portraits is the Moss Arts Center on Virginia Tech campus. The windows are amazing and everything is so bright and white. For a bright and airy photographer, it’s a total dream to shoot there! I was so thrilled to capture the sweet Barnes family a few weeks ago and was so happy when they agreed that the Moss Arts Center would be the perfect location.
The Barneses are some of the best people I know. I met them about a year ago through church. Jessica and I spent many church meetings in the mother’s room, nursing our babies and trying to help them sleep while having whispered conversations about motherhood. She is one of the most graceful women I know. While being “put together” isn’t necessarily a badge of honor, I think we can all agree that Jessica does a very good job at it! She has an air of elegance and joy that just makes her so lovely.
Drew is hilarious. He is a man of great faith and a man of great humor. A perfect combination for a father, in my opinion! He loves his three girls so much and it’s so fun to watch him interact with them. He is always looking out for others – he was even a few minutes late to the session because he was helping someone start their car. He’s just an all around good man. Drew loves Jessica so much and listening to him talk about her is one of the sweetest things. I was so glad to capture a few portraits of just the two of them – something a lot of parents don’t get once the kidlets come along!
Naomi and Vivienne are two little firecrackers. I think the word I used during our session was “spitfire”, which we then had to explain to Naomi. It was pretty funny 🙂 They are such smart girls and I loved interacting with them. Naomi is full of imagination and Vivienne is always ready to go, go, go! It was so great to capture the Barnes in this season of life and I hope they will treasure these images forever.
