Weddings

I met Maddy so long ago I don’t even remember how old we were! We were young teenagers, wonderfully awkward with our bad glasses and braces. 🙂 Maddy is a few years younger than me, but that never mattered. We were just good friends! Here is a picture of us in after climbing Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. She’s in the I ❤️ SF shirt, I’m in the tie-dyed I ❤️ DC. 🙂

Fast forward 13 years and here we are. Maddy found herself engaged to the most wonderful guy – Landric. They met while serving together in their church congregation. They spent time together in service, then spent time together as friends, then as more than friends…and the rest is history. I was so excited to capture their California wedding in April!

And then COVID struck and we all know how that threw a wrench into…everything.

When things began shutting down, I was ready to jump on a plane in March to capture their new wedding date. But when that got altered, too, (and I had a baby…) we had to do some rearranging of our original plans.

Maddy and Landric were married in March at their local church with only their families in attendance. While it wasn’t their dream, I know it was a special and intimate wedding! Later they were sealed in an LDS temple – a sacred ceremony that binds husbands and wives together throughout eternity, not just until death. In August, I was finally able to get on a plane and make it to Utah for them!

I am continually amazed at how gracefully they handled the hardships of COVID and trying to plan a wedding. I know it wasn’t easy! I can’t imagine having to change your wedding so drastically and so many times.

We took portraits for them at the temple – somewhere that is so special to them. We didn’t go inside, but the outside photos are gorgeous! We also took some photos at the Little Sahara Sand Dunes. We got to spend a bit of time traveling together as we drove between locations and let me tell you, Maddy and Landric have found their homes in each other. We had so much fun talking and laughing together! Maddy and Landric have the most infectious laughter. I’m talking big belly laughs, all the time. I love seeing them so happy!

I’m so glad I was able to help them feel like they finally got a bit of the wedding they were hoping for and I hope they treasure these photos forever!
