Hi there! Welcome to the blog, a journal of my photography, family, and adventures. Stay a while and say hello!

Families

I’ve said it a lot of times over the last few weeks, but I think that capturing mamas and their littles is one of the greatest privileges I have as a photographer! It’s near and dear to my heart and I can’t think of a better way to honor mamas and their hard work. (This goes for all you dads out there, too, but today I’m honoring one mama in particular…hence the focus on mamas.)

Mikenzi and I met through church. We actually met in the mother’s room, since Jack and her youngest, Marley, are almost the same age. I got to know her as we rocked our babies and then before I knew it, we were friends! Mikenzi is a deeply creative soul, full of life and ideas and an amazing ability to make everything around her beautiful. Seriously, everyone should follow her on Instagram! Her feed is full of the prettiest work and the yummiest colors. I can’t tell you how much I admire her!

Her boys are just as full of life as she is! Plus 100 times the energy. Marley and Michael are so lucky to have such a passionate lady as their mama. We had so much fun playing monsters and looking at birds in the beautiful mustard field that Mikenzi found near her home.

It especially felt like home for me because where I grew up (the Napa Valley aka where Nick Parker, father to Hallie Parker in the 1998 version of the Parent Trap, lives), each spring the vineyards and surrounding fields are full of bright yellow mustard flowers.  I couldn’t have chosen a happier or more inviting location for their shoot! I feel that it captured the Jones’s sunshiney souls so perfectly.

Mikenzi also appreciates that I’m learning to shoot film and was so excited when I asked if I could shoot a roll during our session. It meant the world that she and her boys were supportive and put up with me for just a little longer than they bargained for 🙂 I am so excited to share these photographs with the world and I hope you can see just how amazing this little family is!

Xoxo.
